I think I will have pretty solid essays
In state

Can someone pleas tell me my chances of getting into U of I engineering? I would truly appreciate it. This senior year, I plan on stepping it up. My weighted gpa 2nd semester of junior year was around a 4.6. I think I can step it up and hope to get around a 4.75-4.92 this semester. I am also looking into schools like Purdue engineering, U of M in Ann Arbor, Northwestern, UCLA, and a few more. Do I have any shot? Thanks!!

You definitely seem qualified for the schools you listed. Id say you have a fair shot at most of them. Im also in FIRST robotics and a hopeful engineering student at Northwestern. Best of luck to you!

You have pretty good ECs and test scores. The only thing that seems to be lacking is your unweighted GPA.

I see UMich and UIUC as high matches. You should get into Purdue pretty easily. Northwestern and UCLA are reaches because of your GPA and out of state for UCLA.

Which major specifically? I know that U of I admits by major.

thank you so much. That is a huge relief. I wish you the best of luck as well, contrametum! Nagintapls: I am thinking about biomed. I know my gpa is definitely low. Is the gpa for senior year significant in the application process?

Do you mean you are in state for UIUC? You cannot be “in state” for all although it does not matter for NU.
Your uwGPA is rather low for these top engineering schools. The admission average for UIUC and UMich engineering is 3.9. Also, their mid 50 ACT is around 31-34. For UIUC in state, it would be a very high match. UMich CoE would be a reach (poor GPA, OOS, mediocre ACT, low admission rate). Same for UCLA and NU. Purdue is in the grey area. It may be a high match to low reach depending on how do they assess your GPA.

yeah, sorry i Meant in state for U of I. I added the other schools at the end, and originally, this post was just going to be for u of i. I know the ACT is low, but I plan on getting it up. Same with the GPA. Thanks for the feedback!

Your course rigor in grades during senior year definitely play a part in admissions.

As someone who lives near U of I (and hopes to go into engineering there), I know a lot of people who have been accepted into their engineering program, and you are just as qualified (if not more) than the majority of them. Best of luck!

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
