Do I have no chance of getting accepted?

I am a rising senior, but I really screwed up my junior year.. and it dropped my gpa significantly, I was wondering if I had any chances of getting accepted into College Park.

Well my unweighted gpa for my first three years of high school is around 3.04, and my weighted was about 3.69. My SAT superscored was 1900.

AP classes: Government AP, Chemistry AP, English 11 AP. During my senior year I am planning to take: Calc AP, Psych AP, English 12 AP, Bio AP, and Anatomy.

I also have extracurriculars, volunteering, and job experiences; however, I do not know if they will help very much...

I really regret my grades during junior year, but if I worked a lot harder during senior year would that help at all? Also would early decision be better in my case or just regular decison? Thanks so much for reading this!

UMD only offers a sort of Early Action, and I highly recommend you do that. There’s no point in doing regular decision. You have a shot - just realize that UMD is very numbers driven (likes focusing on GPA and test scores). What’s your Math and CR score for the SAT? That’s all UMD cares about in regards to the SAT. Also, are you in-state?

@jibler‌ Thank you so much! I am instate, and my critical reading was 570 and math score was 670, which is 1250 together, which isn’t too great either…

Actually I got 680 on the math section, but that doesn’t make too much of a difference…

Can you afford to re-take the SAT another time? That’s a good score, but every bit helps (being in-state helps a lot by the way).

Their middle 50% on SAT is 1260-1410, try to get 1300+ or 28+ on ACT.

Oh I was actually not planning on taking the SATs again in order to focus on my grades senior year… maybe I should reconsider that. Thanks so much guys! I really needed the help because I was stressing over colleges…

If you’re in state I would consider one of the MTAP community colleges as a backup plan: Office of Undergraduate Admissions | Maryland Transfer Advantage…;

Cost savings aside, the smaller class sizes are better than the cattle call at Maryland for any introductory courses.

Honestly if I were in your position, I would be thrilled to have that kind of peace of mind option.

@da6onet‌ Actually if I didn’t make it into College Park, I wanted to go to UMBC. I want to go into pharmacy, and I know that UMBC has a great program for it; however, I really wanted to attend College Park… but thank you so much for the advice! Theres so many colleges, it’s so hard to choose which one would be the best one…
