I have already accepted UIUC acceptance offer online, but I am still waiting to hear from universities to which I have gotten wait-listed. So for the national deadline, May 1, do I have to do anything else that will guarantee my spot?

Like for some universities I have to pay a housing deposit, for UIUC is there some deposit money I have to pay that indicates I am accepting the offer for sure? I hear that the housing deadline is on the 15th of May.

btw, I am an international applicant.

**** i posted a similar question before, but could not get very a very clear response.

As far as admission goes, you pay nothing to assure it. You need to pay the housing deposit (which I believe is $150 this year) to apply for UIUC on campus housing but that is unrelated to assuring admission. The deadline for applying for such housing if you want to be in the first wave of dolling out housing is May 15. All those who apply for housing by May 15 will then be assigned to housing. If you do not apply for housing by May 15, here is what will happen: all residence hall housing will be doled out to those applying by May 15. The number who apply for housing by May 15 will in fact fill everything. Anyone who applies for university housing after May 15 will then be considered only for what is left and the chances are virtually certain that the only thing left will be temporary housing.
