do I HAVE to re-take a subject test i bombed 3 years ago?

I am aiming for ivies... my sat reasoning test score is excellent as is my gpa, but I have to take two subject tests in november. However, I'm being told that my biology subject test that i took and BOMBED in freshman year will need to be retaken to show that score was a fluke. I absolutely dread the thought of retaking bio along with math and us history within a month....

So, is it virtually necessary that i retake bio, or will taking the other two subject tests and getting great scores on those subjects suffice?

it depends what schools you’re applying to… most schools (including ivies) only require 2 subject tests. only a few require 3.

Define “bombed”.

bombed is probably a 680 or something knowing this place

You don’t need to retake it, but would need a third SAT II for some Ivies that require 3. I know Harvard uses only the top 3 scores of the SAT IIs subject tests, so you wouldn’t need to retake your bio as long as you have a third score that you are pleased with.

Only Harvard, Princeton, and Georgetown require three SAT IIs.

Honestly, I have no shot in HYPS anyway. I’m planning on applying to some of the top 20 schools. I know most only require 2 subject tests, but seeing as how every test i’ve taken is reported, i would imagine there would be some backlash against my terrible bio score. And no, as ashamed as i am now of my score, i’ll admit that i got a 500 straight. I didn’t study at all for it, and was just pressured by my parents to take it then and there. I have a 2170 reasoning score, and have a great gpa and soft factors, but that one test from back in the stone ages is bothering me a great deal.

So… should i retake??
