Do I have too little APs?

By the end of HS will I have 5 APs completed (AP Euro, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics B, AP Environmental Science, AP Computer Science). I'm just wondering about this because people around will have completed usually 7 or more APs by the end of HS. I want to go to UCI, UCSD, UCD, UCSB. I know colleges would care about other stats but here I'm just talking about APs.

If you’re instate, I think you’re fine, as long as your UC GPA is high. UCs only count six semesters of weighted courses anyways, so it doesn’t matter too much.

The answer to this also partially depends on how many APs your school offers. In my opinion, there really isn’t a big difference between five and seven APs. I think you’re fine for those colleges though.

It would be too few.

I agree with caughtintraffic. It depends on how many AP’s your school offers.

As far as I know, my brother didn’t take any APs, and he got into UCI, UCLA, and UCSD [currently going to UCLA]…he took four or five community college classes, though, but definitely no AP tests. I think you’re fine.

It’s a personal thing…like how many your school offers. At my school you have 5 70 minute periods a day, and you have to get special permission to take 4 ap classes. They go year round in the same period. I know only one senior taking 4. So really the allowed max would be 7, which no one ever reaches anyway…so don’t worry about it! It’s a school/personal thing that your guidance counselor could explain if needed
