How many AP's is too many? + Top 9% for UC's?

I’m a Junior and we have to pick our schedules for our senior year and so far, I don’t know how many AP’s is too many because I have FIVE SO FAR.

Here’s my schedule:

  1. Unscheduled.**
  2. AP Calculus.
  3. AP Spanish. (I’m already bilingual)
  4. AP Biology.
  1. Unscheduled.**
  2. Staff Assistant.
  3. AP Psychology.
  4. AP English.

** Unscheduled in our school is basically a “Zero Period.”
Our classes are separated into two days; “A Day” which is classes 1-4 and “B Day” 5-8. I don’t get graded and my GPA just counts as if I have 6 classes.

Anyways, I was thinking that this may be too many AP classes for my senior year because I don’t know if colleges look at Senior Year at all but they may want to see if I didn’t totally slack off that whole year.

I was also hoping it would probably bump my weighted GPA up a little because right now it’s a 3.5… :((

I also wanted to know how the whole Top 9% thing worked at the UC’s. Is it top of your class senior year or your whole high school career?

Thank you!

The top 9% does not include senior year.

I’m taking 7 APs next year and I’ve taken 6 already from 9th through this year. I’m trying to boost my weighted as well and honestly it’s all about time management with AP classes. If you have a tendency to procrastinate then I wouldn’t recommend 5. But you should be able to handle it otherwise.

The top 9% ranking includes your grades from 10th and 11th grades (and all 3 summers), so it’s set in stone after the end of this summer.

Thank you so much, I’m planning to take at least 5!
