do i have too many hours?

I currently attend a community college and I expect to have 45 hours by the end of my 1st year with a GPA of 3.6(most likely). I am planning to transfer to UT in Fall of 2009. I want to get into McCombs but I have read that the average GPA to transfer into McCombs externally is 3.8. So would it be possible for me to transfer in as a Liberal Arts and then internally transfer into McCombs? or is hours 45 hours too much to transfer into McCombs internally?

I don't think you have too many hours. I guess the only problem that could arise is that you might have to take a few classes that won't count towards your degree in order to get the 24 hours of UT in-residence credit you need to internally transfre.

It's going to be a challenge for you to transfer into the business school. If you're getting a 3.6 at community college, expect to work much harder if you want to raise your GPA when you're taking classes at UT. The average GPA for transfers, internal included, is a 3.8. You're going to have to strive for a 4.0 your first two semesters at UT.

ya i know i will basically need a 4.0 but i know i can do it. i have always done well under pressure and i don't see why i can't do it when i am at UT. im sure i will get a 4.0. the reason i didn't get a 4.0 in my community college is because i really didn't care about 2 of my classes. but do you think i can still get in the business school after carrying 45 hours from community college and then take 24 hours at UT?

I don't think having too many hours is an issue. You will have to retake courses I assume.
