Hoping current students can share interior pictures of I-House doubles please? Based on UCHI Housing page pics, it looks like they merely bunked the beds in a single room. The double rooms appear to have just 1 desk and 1 wardrobe?
Each student gets a desk and a dresser. You can see that in pictures on the housing site (click here: https://housing.uchicago.edu/residence-halls/international-house/international-pictures/ and scroll down).
Where the second desk/dresser isn’t shown, it’s probably due to camera angles.
If they bunked beds in a single room, students will probably end up sharing a wardrobe. Which, depending on how much stuff the students bring, could be a non-issue or could be a major nuisance.
The chair for the other desk is in that pic. Lower left.
Oh there is a 2nd chair, likely connected to 2nd desk. Also see hint of a single wardrobe, bit brutal for 2 girls, yikes!
@getmoreveggies When room assignments came out two years ago for my daughter, she was able to ask on her House’s FB page about her room. The previous occupant warned her that the closet, at roughly 2’6" wide, would be half the size of the average ones in B-J. My daughter went into her own closet, and with tape, marked off that amount on her clothes rod. Anything that didn’t fit in that space didn’t go. It was tight, but she made it work.
Hopefully there is a second wardrobe or even a small closet out of view in the photos. Perhaps your daughter can ask on her House’s FB page, although if there have been extensive renos, their information might not be current.
