Bursley Hall Question

I am sure this question has been asked and answered a number of times but here it goes again. My kid was assigned to Bursley Hall for the coming year. His room dimensions are 11x14' which seems pretty good. My question -- do the rooms come furnished stand-alone closet units or wall closets or nothing. I assume there will be dresser-like units (socks, underwear, shirts, jeans, etc) but will there be anything to hang coats and jackets. Couldn't really make out from the pictures on the UMich housing sight.

There are built-in closets in Bursley. No closet door, but there are closets with a rod and I believe a shelf above the rod. (Trying to remember from last summer when our son spend 10 days living in Bursley.)

I believe that there are 2 small closets, one on each side of the room. The furniture is usually modular & stackable… look on your student’s housing contract and it will say what furniture package comes with the room; then you can look on the UM website to find out what’s in that furniture package. There will probably be a single bed, dresser, and desk, which can be stacked if desired so that the bed is above the desk & dresser (or could be made into bunk beds… many different possibilities). Could also get a small bookshelf.

Thanks MichMom/Jelp

Jelp — Do you remember what tools (screw drivers, allen wrenches, etc) are necessary or would be handy to have to reconfigure furniture

If you’re reconfiguring the furniture to loft the bed on top of the dresser and the desk, the only thing you need are the metal cylinders that are provided in the room (or if you lose them like I did, you can go to the Community Center and ask for some). This is assuming that your furniture is “block furniture”, aka meant for lofting by themselves.
