Do I need a Letter of Recommendation as a Transfer?

Im applying to LMU for Fall 2011 and I just looked at the website and it said I need a letter of recommendation. Do I need to get this to them right when I apply? Which at this point is in less than 3 weeks, or can I send this later on to their admission office?

I know they recommend one from a professor or Dean of Students. Has anyone gotten one from the Dean of Students? And if so, did you just email him/her and they pretty much just wrote that you demonstrated good motivation and maintained a high GPA? Not sure how a Dean of Students would be able to share specifics if they don't see you really.

Yes, and they do place emphasis on the quality of the letter, so I recommend skipping the dean (unless you can say he knows you on a more intimate level) go for a prof. you connected with. Admissions can always tell between “cookie cutter” rec letters, and rec letters from prof. that you have made a genuine connection with.
