Do I need an AP science to major in economics?

Hello all,
I apologize if this does not come out right as I am new to this website. That being said, I am currently a sophomore at a fairly competitive high school. Many students take multiple AP classes at my school. As a sophomore, I am taking AP World History as my only AP class this year and I did not take any last year because the school does not allow freshmen to take AP courses. Most of my peers are currently taking either AP Biology or AP Chemistry, and I have been recommended to take either of these classes next year. However, I have no real interest in sciences and wish to study economics in college, an aspiration that I have had for quite some time now.

Would it be possible for me to attend a good college to study economics without taking any AP science classes? Next year, I plan to take multiple AP classes and do not have room for another AP class, much less something as rigorous as Biology or Chemistry.

Will you at least have the regular versions of biology, chemistry, and physics by the time you graduate from high school?

I took biology freshman year, am taking chemistry currently, and plan to take physics next year. So yes.

Does your school offer AP Micro & Macro Economics? These would be the AP’s I would try to fit in my schedule. Also what math AP’s are available? I’m assuming you like math and are good at it if you want to study economics. If you don’t like science or do not excel at science - don’t take science AP’s. Despite what some guidance counselor’s will tell you - you don’t have to take every AP - unless you are trying to be a valedictorian. In terms of “good” schools, I’m assuming you don’t mean Ivy league. It helps to have a reference as to what types of schools you are aiming for. My son’s friend is currently in AP Physics and it is going to tank his GPA. It would have been better for him not to take AP Physics and take a different AP he would have excelled at.

Having one year each of biology, chemistry, and physics in high school should be good for most colleges, but a few of the most selective ones may want to see more (e.g. https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/preparing-college/choosing-courses ), although not all specify more (e.g. http://mitadmissions.org/apply/prepare/highschool ). Check the web sites of colleges of interest.

If available to you, try to take AP courses in calculus, economics, and statistics to see how interesting you are likely to find economics.

I would suggest Bio, Chem, Physics and then senior year an AP version.
Also take AP Macro and AP Micro.
Like @ucbalumnus says, take AP Calc and AP Stat if possible
