Do I need to decline college admissions offers?

Mom is freaking out that she's going to have to pay all the tuitions for these colleges that accepted me, but I did not enroll in. I only payed my deposit for one college (and the housing) and declined offers from three other colleges. The others, I have no idea how/where to decline offers of admission.

I use Google, search CC, navigate the college websites, and look at my admissions letters, but I don't see anything about declining an offer (I was able to do it for Auburn and Georgia Tech, while Texas was able to say you didn't pay your deposit, we withdrew your offer.)

Is it really necessary (14 days after the date of deciding your college) that I decline the rest of my schools? I mean, I just have heard no advice from anyone saying decline your colleges. Are the colleges that accepted me just not providing this information because they want you to attend? Please, someone enlighten me.

Thanks.

You do not have to decline, no response is viewed as a no. However, it is polite to do so. At this point (2 weeks later), they already know you’re not coming.

No, your mother doesn’t have to pay tuition to every college that you were admitted to. Can you imagine how awful that would be if that were the case?

However, you should decline the offers of enrollment because it’s polite to do so. If there’s no form or official method, just send the admissions department an email saying thanks but no thanks.
