i am a bio major at a ccc and planning to transfer to berkeley, should i stay at my cc for another 2 years ( i have been at my cc for about 2 years already) and finish everything on the assist list ( all chem, physics, math that is transferrable) or should i just transfer by next fall and finish those classes there? i will end up having like 90+ units completed. i still need to take:
chem 185/185L, 220/221, 225/226
physics 130/135
math185

If you want to go to CAL don't go over 80 units. All you have to do is make sure you have your IGETC completed and major prep work done.

what about UC's? i'm conflicted on whether i should transfer as soon as i get the igetc done. it would be cheaper if i finish everything on assist, bu then again i read somewhere that they don't really like to accept transfers as seniors. some ppl have also told me to get everything done, then transfer tho, so i haev no idea.

mike168: didn't we have this discussion already? the 80 units thing doesn't apply to to CCC students...

hailtothethief: 90 units might be a problem....as it probably will give you senior standing...but I may be wrong. you should go talk to your counselor and call berkeley as soon as possible.

hailtothethief: I just checked assist for my CCC and couldn't even find biology as a major...

fei
is it bad to have a senior standing?

I talked to a berkeley transfer counselor and he said it is ok to go over 90 units as long as they are all from a community college. It will not hurt you in the admissions process at all. You will only have a problem if the units are from a four year university.

aebeys: I seriously don't know. I keep hearing different things from different people....

Yeah the 80 units doesn't apply.

fei: click on the biology department on assist. there is no biology major but they do have all the classes that are interchangeable posted. thanks for your replies, i still don't know if i should stay here and do all that i can...might be missing out on the berkeley experience tho. i'm gonna talk to a counselor asap.

if you wanna major in bio in l&s, you can double major and add that bio major once you're there. i believe.

whats l&s?

letters and sciences
