I just started studying with Barrons for the ML2 subject test 2 weeks away. Its asking me to memorize many arbitrary formulas (half angles and such), are those really necessary? I just want a 700+ on the exam and I am in Calc BC (but never paid attention to precalc). Any thoughts also on how I should approach studying.

No, you don’t need memorize any obscure trig formulas for the Math II subject test. I think the basic ones would be more useful.

Half angles aren’t necessary from my experience. But memorizing double angle formulas could help.

nope! Just make sure you know the basic trig values (at like 0, 30, 45, 60, 90, etc.), but you don’t even have to know those.

You can just plug everything into your calculator. So if there’s an equation like: what is the value of sin2x or that’s part of a question, you can just plug it in your calculator.

Knowing things like the law of cosines and the law of sines is helpful

I would say that you should memorize them as though they may not be helpful now, they certainly will be later in college so no harm in memorizing them right now. And they aren’t too tough, just make a list and hang them in front of your study table (that’s how i memorized the atomic table to 60)
