Do I need to rush October SAT scores for Early Decision/Action?

I took the October SATs and they will be available on October 25.

Do I need to rush the scores to my Early Decision and Early Action schools when they become available or can I send them the normal way on October 25? I read somewhere that scores take several weeks to reach colleges... doesn't that mean that my scores won't reach my colleges by the November 1st deadline if I don't have the scores rushed?

The schools are Cornell and UMich... if that matters.

Thanks!

No, you don’t need to rush. You might want to wait until you get your scores back before submitting your application so that Cornell will at least see the scores. I did the same thing last year; took the October SAT and applied early decision to the college of engineering at cornell and got admitted and I waited to get my scores back first before submitting.

So it doesn’t matter if they get the scores after October 1st? As long as I submit them on the 25th, my job is done?

Yep, receiving the scores from collegeboard is more of a way to verify you are not lying.

What you should have done is listed them as a receiving school when you took the Test. Then they would receive them by Oct 25 (and you could have sent them for free to 4 schools).

Rush scores doesn’t help much. Only saves a couple of days. Not worth the cost.

With the Nov 1 deadlines - as long as you request the scores as soon as you can, they will get them in time. Being a few days late on your scores is not a big issue.

it is always better to know the scores before you send them, but it depends on the schools. many schools will pick the better scores from each test sitting, and others will only want scores from only one test sitting. UC (California) schools will not pick scores (e.g. math from one, critical reading from another) from each test setting.
