Do I need to send the FAFSA directly to the colleges I am applying to?

I indicated the school codes for the schools I'm applying to on the FAFSA itself, but do I need to send the actualy FAFSA directly to the colleges, or is it done automatically?
Thanks!

No you do not send anything. FAFSA produces what is called a SAR (Student Aid Report) which is made available to the schools you listed. You should get an email saying your FAFSA has been processed and made available to the schools - my Ds came the day after pressing the submit button.

Thank You So Much!

swimcat - it was that fast!

in my case, as soon as I submitted I got a confirmation and an estimate from the 4caster - dunno if it was generated from my data in the forecaster (that I put in Nov'07) or the estimates of tax for 2007 that I entered.

Have another question - i submitted my FAFSA with comment as "will file tax later" (or some thing similar). Does that mean I will have to submit my final tax figures to get a final EFC + SAR? Do I submit the final figures to FAFSA or to individual colleges?

thanks

You will have to submit final figures and update the filing status - you do it on FAFSA and they send the new SAR to your schools. It actually says on the email that you must do so and how to do it. (we did will file also).
