Statistics = Korean male, Protestant.
NJ resident
Tenafly High School
My sister went to Columbia SEAS
I am interested in Villanova for its business because I have some interest in the field of economics or business just in general. If someone can please tell me the difference in chance of my acceptance into just Villanova and its school of business, that would be wonderful.

SAT: Took once and got a 1960. (I am going to take again and probably going to around 2100)
HS cumulative GPA: 3.5 considering 4.3 is an A+, so 3.5 is in between B+ (3.3) and A- (3.7) (I completely bombed Freshman year)
I took one to two honors each year and am going to take 2 APs and 1 Honors
School Activities –
1. Tennis (one season)
2. Winter Track (3 times), Spring Track (2 times)
3. Member of the Entomology Club twice, Math Club twice, Sierra Student Coalition, Career club once each

Volunteer Work –
1. Teaching kids with autism. About 200 hours I got from this.

Outside of School activities (just wondering how much these will help in my acceptance):
1. I was in the Bergen County Chorus two years in a row, and North Regional Chorus once.
2. I tutored kids on how to play the drums.
3. I am also the president of the youth group at my church and the drummer in the Praise Band.
Please give me some honest thoughts people THANK YOU!

Definitely take your SATs again, and try to break 2000, or take a crack at the ACT. SATs need to be very high for VSB. Also consider taking SAT IIs.

Really focus trying to bring that GPA up too. Are the two APs that you’re taking this year the first ones that you have taken all 4 years? If not, what did you get on the previous ones? Also, I would consider taking more than just 1 Honors class this year. Colleges, including Villanova, like to see that you have a solid schedule that shows that you are challenging yourself.

It seems like you aren’t consistent with your in school activities (tennis for 1 year, entomology club twice, math club twice…). Is there a reason why you didn’t stick with anything (besides winter track) for more than a year or two? Also, does your school offer any business-related clubs? If it does, I would definitely join.

And your volunteer work… were the 200 hours mandated by your school? Because it sounds like you taught these kids to get hours out of it, not just for the sake of teaching them. This year, maybe try to volunteer more over a fall/winter/spring break. I went to high school in Bergen County too, and I know that Habitat for Humanity has a strong presence here.

Your outside of school activities look good, and yes they will help increase your chances of acceptance. Schools like to see that you are an active member of your community.

Ok, I’m going to give you my honest opinion. Right now, VSB is a mid to high reach for you. Going in undecided, Villanova is probably a low reach. With a lot of effort and dedication though, I’m sure that you could do it. Try to do amazing in your senior year, so you can show Villanova how much of a change that you have made since you “completely bombed” freshman year. Good luck!

hmm yea im def. taking it again I’ve been taking practice SATs at tutor places and I usually get 2200s so expecting around 2100 on the real deal. SAT IIs sorry for not mentioning I got 690 on Biology and am going to take Math IIC and Chemistry.
Yea unfortunately the 2 APs that I am going to take are my first. Many other schools just let students take it, but almost everybody start taking more than 1 APs from junior… Don’t know if the fact that my school works that way helps me. I would love to challenge myself NO JOKE, but in my school you need to get solid A in regular to go into honors and well… the 2 APs I managed by getting good grades in honors courses and the one Honors I get from getting an A on Spanish. umm well I only made tennis once in Sophomore and then I didn’t make the team all other years… Entomology club was a new club starting soph so I joined that right away:) math club… just had no time. umm well I can figure out how to get some internships because Career Path Club helps with that. Um personally I loved to teach the kids, and our school requires about 80, but since we got “fired” if we miss 3 times, and I couldnt miss track, I could not do it anymore.
hm… mid to high… would it help much if i do early? (or maybe not cuz I think VS has no early?) and if it doesnt does it even have early action? and THANK YOU you for being honest :)

ur fine if the gpa is uw

unfortunately it’s weighted;;;
I really messed up Freshman;;; would I have any chance for just Villanova University?
