Hi, I'm an international student from Czech Republic and I'm interested in USA universities.I'm in the 2nd grade on high school, but I guess it's time to start looking...
BUT unfortunately I've figured that I'd like to study there couple months ago.
My first year on high school was really really bad ( I mean I almost failed, but I realized I had to do something...). It's not because I'm stupid... I just didn't like learning and I was just bored during the classes ... that's all...
SO my question is ... do I still have a chance to get into a university like MIT ???
I'm really doing my best to make it, but I want to know if that would be a wasted time or not ...
Thanks very much ...

I am from Peru and have recently finished high school here. I am applying for a scholarship with IIE and they sent me a list of schools where I may have real chances to get in. I guess they are not MIT or oter ivies but I have UChicago, Duke and Tufts. I kinda had the same problem you had two years ago. I didn’t study a lot and my schores were really low (Bs and Cs). Still I think I have chances. You still have time to get a better score average. However, you need to know that high school scores isn’t everything. Start doing extracurriculars (now!!!), you need to take the SATs so start studying in advance and take the exam a couple of times (not like me that take it just once). You may also want to practice your english. Essays are one of the most important parts of your application and you need to start reading in English and practicing writing so you have the habit when the time arrives. I hope I had discovered this page at your age, it would had helped me a lot. Don’t waste time!!!, it is your best ally at this time.
I hope this can help you
Good Luck
