I really want to go to The Citadel. If all goes well, I plan to enlist in the Navy after graduating undergraduate school for 5+ years.

However, I need a little guidance on the first step. I don't technically play a school sport; does this demolish my chances of getting into this school or is it insignificant in my chances getting in?

I believe my GPA is decent enough (3.3 GPA with a medium workload), pretty good SAT scores (very high 1900's to low 2000's), and TONS of extra curriculars (Boy Scouts, co-founder of Car Club, co-president of two clubs, volunteer for the mentally disabled, etc, etc).

I also do Muay Thai (look it up on YouTube) and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Would I have to play a sport to get in? If that is of the concern, then what is? Thank you!

I don’t know much about Citadel admissions…

If you are in good shape, and have some accomplishments in martial arts, that will help quite a bit. I don’t know how a 3.3 looks to the Citadel, but it is a little low for the federal service academies.

You could probably ask around in the service academy subforums, or at [url=http://www.serviceacademyforums.com]United States of America Service Academy Forums - Powered by vBulletin/url

Also, if you have your degree, why go enlisted? Is there a specific job you want? I ask because military colleges usually prepare people to be officers rather than enlist. Nothing wrong with going either way, just pick the one that fits better.

I’m sorry, that was worded quite weirdly. That’s what 3 cups of coffee does to me.
My plan is to become an officer in the Navy, and take the one shot Navy officers have to become a Navy SEAL.
