Do I submit SAT Subject tests if not required

Should I submit subject test scores when they are not required by a school? Only one or two of the schools I am applying to required them which is why I tool them (for Math and a science) the rest do not. Should I just submit my scores voluntarily for all the schools since I took the tests anyhow…I think I did pretty well…(getting 700 and 720) Can this help or hurt or will the school just not care at all. Any advice?

Which school? And sometimes they may not be required but may be highly recommended

I dont have those schools yet…some of them where they are not required are RPI, RIT, U of R, WPI

Are they lower or higher than your SAT math score?

What are they in percentile terms?

If the scores are good relative to the school then you should send them. If they aren’t, I wouldn’t bother.

I am submitting ACT so the math ACT is 32 and the SAT MATH Level 2 Subject Test is 720 so nearly the same, righ I think ? PErcentile I am not sure, they don’t have the percentiles out yet.

Percentiles are pretty meaningless for the Math 2 subject test. Only the strongest students take the test, so a 790 is “only” 77th percentile. Obviously a 790 is a great score and it’s better to get a good score on Math 2 than Math 1 even though the percentiles are wacky. If anything I think your Math 2 score is better than your ACT math.

Thanks mathmom…I’m thinking it may not hurt me to go ahead and sumbit…My HS does not offer AP/IB either so maybe this will demonstrate my strength in math

And by submit, you should simply add them to your test score section in the common app – self submit. There is no need to submit (and pay for) official scores to those schools that don’t require them.

Does the Common App allow one to put in SAT scores? It didn’t when my kids applied. Personally I’d send in the official report.

I will add them on the common app to start anyway

Look at section C8A of the CDS for each university. That will tell you if they consider Subject tests in admissions.

If you need to submit SAT1, include them in the score report.
