Do IB diploma students really have higher chances to get into Stanford?

Hey everyone!
I recently came across a website stating the acceptance rate of IB students to certain universities (if I find it I will post the link later).
The website was claiming that 20-25% of IB diploma applicants is accepted to stanford each year, which is 4-5 times the overall acceptance rate.
Are these figures even possible? If they are, why is there such an high admission rate for IB students?

Thanks :)

I don’t know if this directly answers your question, but: Four years ago I visited Stanford with DS, then a high school senior (in IB). In a group meeting with the admissions representative, someone posed the questions: Does Stanford prefer IB or AP students? Is it better to take IB/AP courses and risk a lower GPA, or easier courses that may enable you to get a 4.0?

The response from admissions: Stanford wants to see that you took the most challenging curriculum offered by your high school. If that is AP, great. If that is IB, great. If your high school offers neither program, make sure that you have taken the most rigorous courses possible at your school.

I don’t think there’s really a higher admissions boost for IB students, but who knows. I’m an incoming freshman and IB alum, and I can attest that IB is pretty difficult in my opinion, definitely harder than AP. Yet, is it more impressive in admissions? I’ve never really got that impression. I guess at the very least it shows diversity and versatility in academics. But a problem with it, is that most of your test scores won’t be released until after senior year, way after your applications are due. So it’s probably sometimes difficult for admissions to judge your IB performance. I ended up self-taking a lot of AP’s junior year to show proficiency in most of my subjects.
