IB Diploma -> Stanford

Does anyone have any knowledge/thought on how useful an International Baccalaureate Diploma will be in my Stanford application? I know they weight IB/AP classes somewhat equally, but what about an actual IB Diploma? Is the fact that I have virtually straight A's and all of my classes are IB a hook at all, or is it as much of a crapshoot as it would be ordinarily?

I would like to know this as well.

Me too.
^^yay oregon. :D

i’m hardcored full ib kid

i got into stanford

idk if that means anything though…

I also did a full IB diploma and I got into Stanford. The other person at my school who got in was also a full IB diploma candidate.

ditto–
the other kid in my class who got in was full Ib too

I’m full IB - and Oregon too!

We had 1 full IB candidate get in but 1 pure AP course guy also get in and 3 full IB candidates get rejected and 2 full AP course guys get rejected. Not really sure how much IB helped but I can’t see it hurting either, especially because, at least at my school, you can take the IB and AP tests if you do IB but if you do AP, you can’t take the IB test.

i wouldn’t consider it a hook as many many other kids are able to obtain IB diplomas. i myself only had like 5 AP classes for all my years in high school and was accepted by stanford. though not doing all those IB classes probably just says to the admissions officers you’re lazy :o

I’m in at Stanford, and I took/am taking all IB classes (with some AP classes where I took IB SL tests last year). We had 4 or so IB kids get rejected from Stanford this year (I’m the only kid at my school who got in), and all the AP/non-IB kids who applied were rejected (there were a handful of them.
