<p>Even my friend who had a 2390 SAT score and stunning ECs was rejected..</p>
<p>So do International students who need almost 100% financial aid get accepted at all ?</p>
<p>Any international getting full ride at Hamilton ?</p>

<p>Yes, it does happen that international students asking for (about) full ride get accepted with (about) full ride. Just as it happened to me. I got about 50k in grants so all I had to pay was about 1-2 thousand/year.
I do know some internationals who also gor full rides. I was myself surprised when I saw my financial aid package last year.</p>

<p>How are you? I had quried earlier (in Nov/Dec) regarding Hamilton. in fact your response encouraged me to apply to Hamilton and I did. I was not accepted, but not rejected either:) Still some room for hope I guess.</p>
<p>My question to you is, how many kids do get admitted from the wait list? Like how many got in last year? As you might know admission offices are somewhat vague about this.</p>

<p>I’m happy to hear that you found my post useful. I hope you will be able to get into Hamilton - however, unfortunately, the chances are probably slim now. If I understand it right, you are on the waitlist, right? Where else did you get in? I heard other people saying here on this forum that last year no one got in from the waitlist but I have absoluetly no clue whether this is true or not. Sorry, I don’t know the answer.</p>
<p>What I do know is that this is the point the admissions officers basically told you that they loved your application but there is no space for you in the class. Should there be some free spaces, they will review all applications again, including yours and decide who to take. This is your time to stand out. There is this one strategy I read somewhere on cc which might not be the best one but it definitely is one that makes you stand out. This is basically: email the admissions office with a 1-2 paragraph email every once in a while till you don’t hear back from them. Email them weekly, biweekly or even daily. Even if they say they don’t want you to write to them, do so. Stand out. You don’t have much to lose as your chances are pretty slim anyway.
If you are able to write some quality emails (which would be more like small essays), you could stand out and get accepted. If you are doing exceptionally well, they might even end up giving you an extra place (unlikely though:P). If you don’t send them anything, you will be just another student on the waitlist with not much chance of getting in. If you send them these emails but poorly-written, you will lose all the chance of getting in. It’s up to you!:)</p>

<p>I thought I would let you know about this and this to give you a clearer picture of who I am. I just did this and this yesterday and read this and this today and talked about this and this with my friend and realised this. <p>I understand this this is very vague but I hope you get the idea. It would be a lot of work (I wanted to do this when waitlisted for Columbia but had no time to write quality stuff and sending low-quality stuff is an absoluetly terrible idea). As I said, chances are quite low that you (or anyone for that matter) can make it from the waitlist. I think the only way to make it is to do something different…and this would definitely be something that the admissions officers would start talking about. “There is this applicant who sent me all these emails! He even knew that we had this speaker coming last week and he also has some interesting ideas about life/etc…”</p>
<p>I totally understand if anyone thinks this is a stupid idea. I am basically telling you to attack the admissions office with perfectly written emails that reflect your interest in Hamilton, your knowledge about current events in campus, your life philospohy and some academic thoughts about different subjects and how they relate to life, etc. (anything really!). But, if you are capable of writing interesting emails that show that you are smart and awesome, then I think is is the time you could make a difference. As If you really wanna get into Hamilton and you really have time, you might wanna go for this kind of strategy - to get recognised. Maybe in a great way, maybe in a bad way. It could backfire. But then again, you don’t have much to lose. It might require you to spend an hour or two (or three or four) writing these emails, but hey, you would spend just as much if not more time writing stuff when you are at Hamilton;)</p>
<p>Haha sorry for this absoluetly disorganised and unhelpful post, this is just an idea I have in my mind but it is hard for me to articulate it - and I also do not know at all if it is even an effective way to handle a waitlist position. </p>
<p>I just think that some frequent, short but witty and informative updates from a waitlist student should help them get in:)</p>
