Do Ivys compare applicant lists or not??/?

I've heard both yes and no. This is a very awkard question to ask HYP, so CC: do any of you guys know if schools among the ivy league compare lists of students applying to them? So would it be better to apply to like Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, CalTech than to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Brown?

They don’t. They used to compare financial aid packages for individual applicants, but that was banned because it broke some law.

They don’t, but even if they did, you should apply to your own choices regardless–and they could have just as easily compared with Stanford

They are fully cognizant that many of their applicants will apply (and some will be accepted) by their peer institutions. It’s already assumed.

But to answer your question: your friends who claim they look at each others’ list is wrong.
