do marks from the 12th grade matter?

<p>I know grades are important if you want to get into an American college, but they only take into consideration the grades you get till the 11th grade , right? because an inernational applies in the first semester of the 12th grade...an he finds out if he got accepted before he graduates highschool....so it wouldn't make sense otherwise
please tell me that's true, because I'm really tired of losing entire hours studying for stupid school projects
thanks for reading</p>

<p>There's a mid term report as well, so you have to submit 12th mid term scores with your application as well, but not the final scores until after you join college.</p>

<p>If there's a significant drop in your 12th grade grades, your initial acceptance can be rescinded.</p>

<p>:((((((((((((((
thanks for your replies
bye bye
I have to go back to homework</p>

<p>If you are a constant performer..then you don't have to worry about ''Admission Rescinded'' problem..:)..</p>

<p>To answer your question - yes.</p>

<p>Of course, your in-school grades will be evaluated with respect to your country's educational system...for example, Indian schools are famous for their heavy grade deflation, and 80% (A) is considered an amazing grade...while it's rather mediocre in the American system...get the idea?</p>

<p>I disagree somewhat with tetrisfan. Every country scores differently, it is not a question of deflation but of scale. An 80% is an impossibly high score in a UK university, where a 72 is a solid A, and maybe once per year one student might reach a 76. Everything is relative to the scale.</p>

<p>That's even assuming that the scale matters at all. When I was at university, I took an exam in a class graded on a curve. The center was B/C. So anyone within one standard deviation above the norm got a B, one standard deviation below the norm got a C, 2 deviations yielded an A or a D. I found the exam really hard, and thought I had done poorly. I missed the class when it was returned and had to go pick it up later. When I went to pick it up, the professor handed it to me and told me that I had got an 18. I was devastated. I thought that I had done poorly, but not that poorly. The Professor saw that on my face and asked how I was feeling. I said that I was bitterly disappointed, and the Professor agreed immediately "Yes, I thought you might be disappointed, you just missed the A."</p>

<p>As to the OP, many schools will get your midterm grades, and many offers of acceptance will be conditional on you not crashing and burning in your senior year of secondary school.</p>

<p>thank you for answering
in romania we are graded according to a scale ranging from 1 to 10(10 is the highest mark you get, as you may have already assumed). every year I've increased my gpa( progress is important, right?), so i was afraid that a drop in my senior year would make them change their minds. for ex, in the 9th grade my gpa was 8.88, in the 10th-9.30, 11th-9.74.
if this year I get like 9.50, hopefully it won't be such a big deal</p>

<p>Still, I think grades in 12th grade are important because it would help yu even more when you want to go to any college. It will also help you prepare for futre things.</p>

<p>Mikalye, I was implying the same thing as you!</p>

I’m kind of in the same situation. I am an international student. I got accepted to a university in California. They said they will need my final year report. the thing is, i don’t think they’ll admire the work i did.
In Ethioipia, there is an national examination that is the the way you get into a college in Ethiopia. It is out of 700. Those who want to study medicine should bring 550 and above, the rest left for engineering and other studies.
And so, The last two quarters at school are pretty tough. They are trying to get you ready for the exam and so they make the tests really really hard. As a result, your marks won’t be the perfect A.
I had a GPA of 3.7/4.0 before in 11th grade. This year, it might fall to 3.2.
Please tell me that the admissions office won’t decline my acceptance after this. I really need to know.
