Do most colleges take freshman year into account?

I did pretty bad my freshman year, with a 3.2 GPA. Sophomore year, I did better, with a 3.6, and so far, Junior year, I have a 3.8. And next year should be a breeze, even with some difficult classes in the first semester, I should score no lower than a 3.8-3.9.

I am just wondering if college take into account freshman gpa? And if they don't would they re-calculate your submitted GPA and just do, for example (3.6 + 3.8 + 3.9) / 3, instead of (F + S + J + Se) / 4?

Thanks

It depends on the school. For instance, UCs only use soph and junior year grades. At the very least you will be able to show improvement over time which colleges like to see.
