Do most ivy league and other pretigious colleges require only 2 SAT II exams?

and do most applicants take just 2 SAT II tests?

Georgetown, Harvard, Princeton and Yale require 3. All others 2. See http://www.compassprep.com/admissions_req_subjects.aspx

thank you

Be sure to look at the asterick's in vienna man's chart. This shows the places where the ACT substitutes for both the SAT Reasoning and Subject Matter Tests (the new names for these things). My daughter is in an Ivy and submitted no SAT IIs (the name then).

Penn requires 3.

the list says penn only requires 2

Penn requires 2 SAT II's-below is a line from the Penn website

Freshman applicants must take the SAT I and two SAT II: Subject Tests.

Johns Hopkins "recommends" three. At this level of competitiveness, it's best to assume that "recommends" is essentially the same thing as "requires."

Many of them are two if writing is include in the base test. They were mostly 3 including writing before writing was moved into the base test.
