Do my essay responses align with what Bowdoin is looking for? Are my responses good enough?

@Gpa348 There isn’t much you can do at this stage. The deadline for EDII has passed. IMO, you have a better shot than many applicants in ED/RD rounds. No doubt, the GPA will be an issue. But I think the demographic, and income level hook will be more than enough to give you a fair shot. The essay is probably not as strong and personal as “I” would like - but “I” am not the admissions officer. If it was up to me, I would write about the personal experience in places you grow up in a narrative form, and illustrate what was missing (diversity - demographic and viewpts… opportunities… etc) and what to do next. The Bowdoin essay prompt is pretty challenging, esp. with the word limit, but that’s how they probe you. It is not about writing what you think they want, it is about writing what makes you “You” and separate your file from those of the other applicants. Just relax, keep up the senior yr grades, AP Lit is not easy for sure (so no worry). Good luck.

@Mickey2Dad I did write about what makes me me. I didn’t write what I think they want. I wrote from the heart. Now, I don’t know how that will be seen in the admissions office.

Hey everyone! I got deferred. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

@Gpa348 Aw I’m sorry :(. It sucks (I was deferred ED from Brown and EDII from Tufts).You still have a chance!!! Good luck in the regular decision round!

@Gpa348 - any update?

@lopalo I got rejected :frowning:

Hey everyone! I got rejected! :(((. I might be attending Bates College instead.

Thank you for the update @Gpa348 - the world is wide open for you and I sincerely wish you the best in your endeavors
