Do my stats match up with my dream schools? Nervous junior needs your thoughts!?!?

Chance for NYU, Columbia, Boston College, Boston University, Johns Hopkins, UCLA, UofI, Northwestern, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, UC Berkeley, Oxford (in England), or any other schools that you think I match up with.

What are my chances at getting in and what other schools do u recommend me going to on the east coast? Is this a reach school for me? Thx for the answers.

I am thinking of applying to NYU ED. that is wat people have been telling me to do. Is that the right choice? I think i would apply to NYU CAS. Is that the best school to do premed? Thats wat I want to study and do you think that that would be the best choice for me? Thanks!

Harvard/Princeton/Stanford/Yale (and possibly Columbia also) will most likely reject you with a 28 ACT score (if you get that) along with a rank that's not competitive for those schools.

I think you would have a decent shot with NYU. Pre Med NYU is rigorous. Not so much so as Johns Hopkins. You will most likely need a higher rank, ACT score, or a hook of some sort to contend for Ivy League positions. It seems you want to get out of Illinois and into a big city. I've lived in NY (the city and just outside) my whole life, and there is nothing like it; I think you would really enjoy it. Best of luck, and keep it up!

First I would like to say that you do have good grades however, don't over estimate your SAT/ACT scores. If anything take your PSAT scores as an approximate total even though you may have improved since. Now, I believe you calculated your GPA incorrectly. According to me, your GPA is 3.67 (A=4, B=3 add up for each semester per year, combine the two totals and divide by 2 for each grade level. Then add up all three year averages you will get your GPA). Colleges all use the same system for adding a GPA (except for the UC's) which is this method. Only AP's count as extra points.

NYU - Match
Columbia- Reach
Boston College - Match
Boston University - Match
Johns Hopkins - Low Reach, depends on the application.
UCLA - I know many who have been accepted on a 3.5
UofI - match
Harvard - Reach
Princeton - Reach
Stanford - Reach
Yale - Reach
UC Berkeley - As long as you can write an amazing and breathtaking essay it is possible.
Oxford - HUGE Reach.

NYU, BC and BU are your best bets. The others are long shots, IMO.
ED, I believe, would improve your chances.
NYU is fine for pre-med. My neighbor's daughter went to NYU, and is now at Harvard Med.

Your GPA is too low for Ivies and isn't matched up with a good enough rigor of classes. I'm not trying to be mean but it is the truth. Both bostons are about matches, maybe low reaches. John Hopkins is a low reach and NYU and UofI are probably matches as well. Berkeley is a good a possibility if you look good with the essay and Ec's. The others are all big reaches. I don't know though. Maybe CC is making me think that everybody should have a 4.0 and 15 Ap's. Good look. I'm sure you will get in where you want.

UofI - I don't know enough about it. I'm guessing for sure you'd get in.
NYU - Also don't know much; probably a bit harder than UofI.
Boston College - Pretty good chances.
UCLA - Low chance but okay.
BU - See UCLA

For all the others, your gpa is only average, low class rank, only 1 AP class through junior year, average test score, and only Algebra 2 through junior year. You can apply if you want, but just remember, the elites you listed are the best in the world. Good luck though.
