Do private colleges compare SAT/ACT scores within your school?

Of course they compare GPA and class rank, but do they do SAT/ACT scores? I go to a huge public school that is "competitive" in that 10-15% of the school population wants to get straight As, but they do terrible on standardized tests. For instance, the average ACT score is 18. The average SAT score is Verbal/Math ~830.

I took the ACT cold in October and got a 26. I plan on taking it again to get at least a 28-29, but will they take school's average test scores into account?

i hope they will

according to the book The Gatekeepers, which is about admissions at Wesleyan U, they do.

interesting question.....I would imagine that it depends on the college in question, but looking at results from our HS, it would appear that they do not compare SAT/ACT scores within a school......GPA and Class rank still trumped those ranked lower with higher sAT/ACT scores.
