I did OKAY but not amazing on the PSAT (208). Will it affect what college I am admitted into in any way? By the way I'm a junior.

Thanks

Thanks

And yes, I know my score isn't high enough to achieve semifinalist status.

The biggest way it affects you is by National Merit - many schools have scholarship/aid programs for Semifinalists/Finalists/Winners. I know at least a few that offer near-full rides for winners.

But if you tank on the PSAT, I wouldn't sweat it. Really, the only other way it matters is as a predictor if the SAT, which does matter.

A 208 is better than OKAY. Don't be so hard on yourself. :)

My son got a 207 on the PSAT and is so bummed out. We are so proud of him. He made 98 percentile! He got a 60 on critical reading, a 74 on math, and a 73 on writing. His SAT that he took right before the PSAT, he got a 2100-680 math, 690 critical reading, and 730 on writing. So we have hope for him to possibly bring up his math SAT, and that maybe his writing score wasn't just a fluke. I'm not surprised at the 60 CR, he doesn't read, and think he got lucky on the SAT, the passages were things he was interested in, ie, astronomy. We're hoping for commended. Unfortunately,we were hoping for a free ride at something other than the state flagship, which NMSF might have given him, but we'll apply for whatever we can from a commended standpoint. Maybe something from a corporation. Good luck to you, and keep on working on your grades, your ECs, and prepare well for the ACT and SAT.

ya i got a 221 (California), but i'm concerned I won't make the cutoff.

I know I'm from California and also got 221, but I heard the cutoff is going to rise a lot this year. Everyone keeps saying the juniors in California this year are so smart. At my school there were more people with higher scores than last year and the year before, but could the cutoff really rise from 217 last year to something like 222, in one year? I'm worried
