Do Recommendation Letters have to be in English?

I am a prospective law student at Cal, and am worried if rec letters are restricted to only English. The person that knows me best in the political/working area is in Mexico and speaks little English. Is there an issue? Please help me out. Thank You.

Provide the original LOR in Spanish and provide a English translation of the LOR marked as such.

Perhaps get someone from the Cal’s Spanish dept(like a grad student ) to translate and be willing to put their name and phone # on the English translation in case of questions.

You may also find it helpful to call Boalt’s admissions office and ask if they have any special translation requirements. I am sure this is a situation they deal with often, and so they should have suggestions on what to do.

You may also want to ask LSAC, since normally letters of recommendation are submitted through LSAC and forwarded from LSAC to all schools to which you apply.
