Do regional and state science fair awards help in college admissions?

I was wondering if I should compete in science fair with a project that will probably get me a gold at regionals and a silver at state. I currently have a very weak awards section: state runner up speech TEAM, regional violin awards, etc. Would these science fair awards give me a boost for ivies and Stanford? Assume that my gpa, act, and leadership/ECs are up to par please.

Thanks!

Anything helps. I don’t know what you mean by “boost”.

Like does not having any significant awards raise a red flag to admissions ?? And does winning an award as a team help my college app?

Not having significant awards does not raise any red flag. It is great if you have them, but you can have a very strong application without it. Having them is always a plus, it confirms your level of commitment and accomplishment. Group awards are great too. It doesn’t take away from you and functioning well as part of a team is very valuable. In college and in the workplace working well with others and group projects is reality.

Team awards are not as significant unless you were the clear team leader.
