Do remedial courses count at community college for transferring?

I'm taking 2 remedial courses one in math one in reading my first semester at CC. im already off to a bad start in math because the one test we took had 7 problems the exact same way and i missed the second part of the equation 2 answers.. and the test only has like 20 questions. UGH! Anyway, i plan on transferring to the University of North Dakota to major in aviation or University of Pittsburgh to major in finance. Will these remedial courses count against me in anyway i looked online some people say as longas i pass no one sees them and they do not get factored into my GPA some say they do.

If you’re having problems in remedial math, I would say your focus on your eventual transfer colleges is not your prime concern. You should seek tutors to get your maths skills to a collegiate level.

“As long as you pass”… what?

If you just barely pass remedial math, you’ll never get good college level math grades or transfer into a 4 year college’s Finance major at this point. Focus on what’s immediately at hand.

Good luck to you.

Generally, no, remedial courses generally are not accepted for transfer as anything useful, if they’re accepted at all. What you need to do is get through them, and take the math course at the cc that will transfer into a four year school - calculus, college (as opposed to basic) algebra, or stats.

Community colleges also have some great services for career planning. If your placement tests put you in developmental math, you may want to have a back-up in mind in case you change your mind about those math-laden majors in aviation or finance.
