I took the June SAT, but I do not think that I did well on it. However, it was my third try and some CC'ers said that colleges start averaging all your SAT scores together if you take the SAT a fourth time. Is this really true or just a rumor. Also, if it is true, which of the following schools average the SAT after the fourth time. I really want to take it a fourth time.

Johns Hopkins
Cornell
Rice
Stanford
Northwestern
Chicago
Wash. in St. L
Carnegie Mellon
Vanderbilt

These are really competitive schools. If you're taking it over and over again hoping for a 70+ point increase, I would be concerned about getting the score as well as the averaging. If you have not gotten the score you want in the last 3 tests during your h/s career, you may need to look an more safety/match schools. If you're looking for an increase of <40 points, please, don't bother taking the test again! I don't think it makes much difference, though others are welcome to disagree. What's your situation?

Well I think that I aced the math however on the critical reading I ran short on time and quickly circled in the answers. Before I took it I projected that I would get a 700 which is 70 points higher than my 640. I got a 640 the past two times. I would really like to break 700...

You could study hard and take an SAT II Literature...might be more manageable to study for just that, especially since you're dealing with the fourth testing issue. If you do well on that, might help you out. Just a thought!

back in the day when the sat use to be just verbal and math, i think anyone could easily(and i did) shoot up 100 scores just by continue to practice on the 10 REAL SAT's book.i practiced and practiced on those(doing the whole sat,s and when I took them after studying my real sat scores would shoot up.
