Do schools care if you switch majors?

I've changed my major to Engineering, and I'm way behind on coursework(except math, I will be taking Calc III in the Fall). Do schools empathize with your situation, if you've switched majors, in their tranfer decisions?(especially selective schools like JHU, NWestern, UVA, etc.)

Basically, I've taken all humanities coursework, so maybe I could put it towards unrestricted electives?

I'd like to know too. By the way, what if you know that they might reject you because of the major that you chose, can you jut talk about another subject you would like to major in and have strong background in it?

Every school is different. Some schools don't mind if you switch majors but other schools will not let you switch majors into an impacted program.
