Do schools give you same merit money when transferring?

Let’s say you are offered some merit money based on NMF and academics when you applied as an intending freshman. Does this state school offer you the same merit money if you transfer to this school? I guess I am curious if transfers also receive the same merit scholarship? For example, my kid got a full ride scholarship from UNLV based on his NMF status. Will he get this again if he applies to UNLV again as a transfer later?

Not likely. NMF scholarships are intended for freshmen. Your best bet it to contact the school and make sure.

Not likely. Some schools may offer merit to transfer students based on their academic credentials at the time of transfer, not whether they were offered merit as frosh previously. But merit for transfers is typically harder to come by than merit for frosh.

@ucbalumnus Thanks for your response. Yes, I knew the NMF based merit scholarship was one time opportunity which depended on your designating a specific school as NMF school but I thought maybe other non-NMF merit scholarship might be available to transferees.
