Do schools snail-mail rejections at the same time as they're sending acceptances?

Pretty much what the title says…for schools who notify via the mail, are acceptances and rejections sent out at the same time? That is, is no news good news? Or at least, not bad news?

A lot of the time, rejected students are notified last. Because the main priority is to notify accepted students asap.

I can’t recall my D receiving any notifications via snail mail. She either logged into a portal or received an email. Scholarship info followed a few weeks later via snail mail. My son has received two acceptances and one deferral so far, all via email or portal log-in.

OP: There are NO universal notification policies among the thousands of colleges and universities – obviously – therefore, it’s impossible to answer your question.

@toptier, well, of course. To clarify - usually? frequently? on average?

@hs2015mom‌: For the universities and LACs with which I am familiar, decisions (of all types) are generally available through the admissions’ on-line portal, immediately after the defined “hour.” USPS letters are often sent to all or only to those who are accepted.

some schools don’t even mail a reject letter if the student logs onto the notification portal.
