Hey everyone! The title pretty much says it all; how much do community service hours matter when it comes to your application? If I have 250-350 hours, will that change the chances of my acceptance?
Thanks!

I don’t really think that anyone is able to tell you how much community service plays into admissions. It’s sort of like the “chance me” threads, no one really knows until you hear back from Northwestern!
Quality, not quantity.
I have around 250 in math tutoring, and another 50 in helping disabled children learning the rules of and playing different sports. Would that make any difference in an admissions decision?
I have a D alum and a S that is current student. One accepted RD and one ED. Neither had service hours because both played sports, although they both did Honor Society volunteer work. So, as above poster MagicMarker pointed out, nobody really knows. I do think that NU admissions are “holistic”- and looking for students that are more than “just students”.
Thank you so much! It probably is true that NU looks more at the whole person; that was a great point. I guess I’m just nervous for when I apply because I love NU and want to make sure I can attend school there.
Thanks again!
