Do some SAT IIs look better than others?--Help!

I need to sign up for my june sat IIs and I know I'm taking Math II but I'm between US History and English for my second...English would definitely be easier for me and I could probably do a little better (or at least a little better given how much work i'd have to put in) but my college counselor said that history looks better for schools.

Is that true? Would History look better than English?

Do you mean Lit?

Are you taking APUSH?

I would like to know as well.

But I’m confused. I thought most colleges wanted 3 SAT IIs.

If you want to go into science you should really take Chem or something.

Yeah I took chem in the fall so I just need too more.

And yes I’m taking APUS, but also AP English Lang

No, that’s not true at all.

A very high score is much more impressive on the Literature SAT II than on the APUSH SAT II test.

800’s are extremely, extremely rare on the Literature test… it’s regarded to be one of the most difficult to get an 800 on.

Only three colleges do: Harvard, Princeton, and Georgetown. All others want two or fewer (with possibly a few wanting more from homeschoolers). But the Common Application includes space for six SAT Subject Test scores, so it is certainly possible to submit more than the minimum number required. I’ve heard that the U of Chicago entirely disregards SAT Subject Test scores, but many other selective colleges will at least look at them.

An 800 on Literature is 99th percentile
SO IS AN 800 on USH

In general, aim for 750+ and do your best, and please don’t let procrastination get the best of you.

Take whichever one you like more/can study more easily for (if you love english studying for lit; I love history so studying for USH is way easier than studying for MathII (I hate math XD).

The USH curve is between -9 and -11 =800 (out of 90), so its pretty easy to get an 800 if you are good at history
The Lit curve is between -2 and -5 =800 (out of 61), so it isn’t too bad with the -5 curve, but with -2 it will be very hard to ace (due to the ambigiousness of some of the questions/passages)

Columbia also recommends 3.
