Do teachers look down on students that miss a lot of school?

So a lot of bad luck has happened to me during the first three weeks of school for some reason (I feel like the universe is trying to act against me! haha)

The second week of school I already missed a day because I somehow managed to get a fever in the middle of the night and woke up absolutely disoriented and vomiting. Right now I’m staying home from school because I have a bad case of food poisoning, and it’s only the third week! Will teachers look down on me for missing already two days during the first three weeks? Why can’t I seem to catch a break haha?

As long as it’s for a legitimate reason, teachers have no problem with it. It’s when students frequently skip school just for fun that it becomes annoying.

I think that unless it is something ongoing like mono, realistically you have a limited number of get out of jail free cards. Doubt will creep in. ESPECIALLY if you are asking the teacher to do extra stuff for you because you are gone a lot.

You are staying home from school because you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.

Most teachers go out of their way to be fair and accommodating within reason.

@TempeMom haha I know, unfortunately I just get a sick a lot :frowning: last year I was sick quite often, due to some family problems that took a physical toll on me, and I didn’t miss too much school, but the teachers are extremely strict at my school and usually if you miss the day of an essay turn in, you have to email it to them and submit a final draft. My luck is horrible too, and hopefully it doesn’t get me in trouble this year! haha

If you’re sick, it’s not your fault! Get a doctor’s note.
I was sick two days my second (this) week, and I still have a terrible cough! Feel better.

Sickness is something you can’t avoid. And if you have a fever and are vomiting, you can’t go and no one wants you there. As long as you have your parent send an excuse note so it’s a legal absence, you’re fine. Just catch up as soon as possible. Things happen. The vast majority of teachers are accomadating especially if you’re typically a hard worker and you make stuff up in a timely fashion. The skippers are the ones that teachers give little sympathy to.
