Do teachers recommendations for business school need to be math or history?

I was talking to a friend and he said most undergrad business programs require that your letter of rec be from a math or history teacher. This messes me up b/c i already had my chem teacher and german teacher each write me one.

The schools i am applying to for business are BC, URichmond, Fordham, Villanova, and Notre Dame.

If anyone has any information regarding this I would really appreciate it. I tried doing some research online and came up empty and the admissions offices are all closed now.

It is suggested that teacher recs come from a teacher who has taught you a core type class. Math, science, english or history not an elective like Art (unless you are an Art major). I don’t think business majors are any different than other majors so I think who you have is fine.

There are not really any specific requirements per se for biz…mostly for engineering they have to be one math and one science, but business is usually pretty open ended

To the OP, my letter of recommendation came from an English teacher I had sophomore year. Apparently it included a poem about me. I ended up going to a highly ranked undergraduate business school.

I considered asking a couple of math teachers but realistically the letter should come from a teacher you know well and are confident about writing a good recommendation. I didn’t really ‘bond’ with any of my math teachers and I ended up participating in an extracurricular activity that was supervised by the aforementioned English teacher.

I agree with the previous posters that it should come from a teacher you had for a core class. Just make sure you don’t just go for the teacher in who’s class you scored the highest on your record but with one who you feel most comfortable. I actually remember getting a 90 in this guy’s class and received higher marks in my math classes (ie 95 in calc BC) but still felt my honors sophomore English teacher would provide a better letter of recommendation.

Hope this helps.

thanks for all the help.

I called up the schools today and found out that they accept LOR from any core teacher. Problem with my school is that every class has 42 students so it can be difficult to for great relationships with teachers. I have pretty good relationships with the two teachers I have already chosen, I was just worried because although I have done well in math and hist, the teachers didn’t know me well.
