i brought the forms to my counselor today and he said that they don't use them, instead they automatically send the semester grades as soon as they become available to all colleges you applied to with a cover letter... not the mid-year report form many colleges ask for... does your school do the same?

Yeah, my school does the same as yours.

Yes, I am boned for life. I could've gotten away from showing some colleges my dismal grades.

For colleges that don't require midyear reports, does this mean they don't factor in Senior First Semester grades?

this is generally what happens

the school has a master list of where students applied
transcripts.midyear reports are generated
they are then sorted by college, so some colleges may get one transcript, one college may get an envelope with 30 transcripts/reports
the cover letter lists the names of the kids that have applied
if there is a mistake somewhere, the college will either contact the HS or the student
the colleges accept this, not a problem
