so I'm applying as a junior transfer for fall of 2010; I ended HS this June but had 28 AP credits, so I'm doing my lower division stuff in one year instead of two. My problem is that I spent my last semester of HS as a foreign exchange student in Germany, and my school (LAUSD being the geniuses they are) has yet to input my credits from that time and process my graduation. The college counselor is on maternity leave and even though I've been there several times in the last few months, they won't do anything about it. I'm honestly considering just getting my GED at this point. Anyways, should I put on my app that I graduated in June (when I finished the classes) or in December (when they'll probably get around to processing my graduation). should I even bother mentioning it at all? do UC's check your graduation date? please help, i'm very worried! thankssss

I don’t think it matters much if you put June or December, but I’d explain the situation in the Additional Comments section, I don’t think the UC’s will really care though…

ugh i’m just so annoyed by it . . . and i keep having these nightmares where LAUSD has prevented me from getting into college. AGHH

You’ll be OK, just explain it in the Additional Comments section and/or contact the schools admissions office and talk to someone.

I think you should briefly explain your situation in additional comments. I doubt the graduation date matters very much, the most important thing is that you don’t lie about the courses and grades you got.

Once you’ve been admitted to a UC and have accepted your admission, they will ask you for your final HS transcript and you can personally explain your situation to your admissions counselor at that point.

I did not graduate from HS and only got my GED. I explained this on my application. Once I was accepted, they asked for my HS transcript. I personally brought my GED transcript to my admissions counselor at Berkeley and told her I didn’t have a HS transcript. She said she understood and it wasn’t a problem.
