Do the wait-listees get a rejection letter early since no one is being accepted?

Oh no, I meant that I wasn't admitted off the wait list. They informed me that I was no longer under consideration. The exact phrase they used was "it will be impossible to offer you a place int he class."

Oh, I'm so sorry!
"taken off the wait-list" seemed totally different to me.

March 15th??? and you just got it today??? Didn't it have a two week reply date??? Or did you mean May 15th?

It's prefectly all right.

But now, I guess that the first rounds of letters are out. Good luck to everyone!

Oopps, I see we're all anticipating............

Just an update. I called Brown today and spoke with an admissions officer. He said, which is pretty self-evident from the previous posts, that no students have been accepted yet, although a number of rejections have been handed out. Regarding usage of the wait list, he still did not know, but it seemed to me like it was going to be used, just not much, which once again we already knew.

What are the schools you people plan to attend assuming Brown does not come through?

U of M...unless I get accepted to Bowdoin (I was waitlisted there too)

So only rejections have been posted till now?

mercer10, I crossed with you.

I think there is an outside chance-- if a certain group of needed kids all did not accept Brown's offer (the whole lot from a very underrepresented state, or an underrepresented major, all the french horn players, or similar) Brown would need to go to the wait list for that specific thing.

Other than that, they won't be under-enrolled based on the current yield.

Brandeis University

U of TN @ Knoxville

I'm going to Cornell, actually.

And yes, I'm sorry--I meant that the letter I got was dated May 15th, sorry about the confusion. I'm still living in March, it seems.

Yes, I think I heard that Brown is not taking anyone off the waitlist this year--maybe a handful if spaces become available in the current class.

The official rejection letter came from Brown today.

ahaha, good thing i wasn't counting on brown. got my letter today, no brown for me. might have been nice, but eh. washington in st. louis here i come!

(((((hugs)))) to those who got disappointing news...

Brown is great, but I have to say that if you have the Brown spirit, that will make your college experience great no matter where you go. Good luck and have fun!!

How are the rejection letters being sent? DHL/Fed Ex. or regular snail mail?

i got mine snail.

so you got yours after 4 days? i live in India so I should probably wait for another week

My son's rejection came today. He was expecting it, but it was still a bit of a bummer. We're in Oregon.
