Do these count as EC's?

I did marching band and pep band for two years while I was in band. Do they count as extracurriculars as they were required of me to do for the class?

Also, I played club soccer every year in high school in both the winter and the spring during school (exception of 9th and 10th grade, only spring). Do they count since they are not school related?

bumpity bump

Not completely sure, but I think club soccer definitely counts as an EC. I think EC are really what you do in your free time, apart from watching TV, sleeping, eating, hanging out, etc.

I do hope club soccer counts since I’ve been doing that for 11 years…

The club soccer definitely counts since you did it by your own choice, outside of school. As for the marching band, did you do anything in it that was optional (going above and beyond)? If so, I’d say yes because you went out of the required and did extra, but otherwise I’d think no.

Not completely sure though. I hope it counts for you!

Also, to add on, the more prestigious the club team, the better.

Premier level teams that compete in tournaments around the country > Local teams that have more open spots than people trying out for

yeah its definitely a premier level team. we’re like the 7th best team in illinois. i’ve gone to iowa and indiana for tournaments, but no further than that

band is an EC…you didn’t have to do band for school…therefore it’s an EC

doesn’t matter if you went above and beyond, it’s still an EC

well by that logic doesn’t that mean that any elective is an EC since it isn’t required for school?

If band is a class and the only things you do are during school hours, then I’m not sure sure that would count as an EC. However I think you’ve probably done football games, competitions, after school rehearsals, etc. so yeah that definitely counts.

yup i’ve done football games and basketball games, but no competitions or after school rehearsals. so it still counts right?
