Do they give you same financial aid if pulled off of wait list ?

If you were to get pulled off from one of the WL college and the college is 100% need based, will there be any difference in the financial package they would offer you? In other words, let's say same college X, you get admitted through regular decision route or you got wait listed and then get admitted. Does the financial aid package remain the same under both scenarios? unless colleges are not under pressure to meet their financial requirement hence may not offer as much aid?

Some colleges do. Some are not. Some are not need blind when it comes to the wait list. Some are, but do not guarantee to meet full need. Some do not give the same compositions of need; those on the wait list get what’s left. So it depends.

what do you mean by those on the wait list gets what is left? Wait listing admission is againsts cancellation. The class size will still be the same. Correct?

A better way to look at it is the number of FA $ is constant and the ones coming off the wait list may not get all their need met because most of the $ are gone. The only way to know is to contact the school.

NO, The only way to know is contact the school AFTER you get off the wait list. Why bother when you are still on the wait list?

artlover gives good advice. Frankly, this all depends on the generosity of the school. Some indeed may have a limited FinAid pot. Others (think Harvard) don’t care. But why worry about something that 98% likely won’t happen? If you get a WL offer, then look at the Fin Aid and see if it works. Otherwise, cast your gaze twds the school you’ve chosen and put behind you all the WL colleges. It’ll serve you well.
