You know when you get a letter from a college that starts something like thank you for your interest in our school , you should go here because so on and so forth. But then at the end it offers you to check out their page just for you and gives you a special code, do these letters actually mean anything?

Yes and no. It doesn’t really mean they’re interested in you, or at least any more than any other student. But going to the page and registering or checking out the website can help out your demonstrated interest, if the school cares about such things - and many do. Some schools hate accepting people they’ve never heard from before, because they know the odds of you matriculating are really low, and they’d rather give the spot to someone who has a better chance of attending.
