I have a alot of A's that aren't UC transferable, so I assume they don't count towards the GPA. If this is true, what about a B that isn't UC transferable in something like underwater basketweaving? Does that count towards your GPA when you transfer or not?

Use the search function next time.

The answer is no.

@supa_ramga your partially wrong.

UCB uses ALL grades to calculate GPA , with the exception of the college of letters and science.

The other UCs dont care

@Cal
He is applying for Genetics which is in L&S…

EDIT:
And if we are making this distinction for non-LS majors. It’s worth mentioning that adcoms do not make decisions for non-L&S applicants to UCLA either. The individual department’s faculty make the decisions and in that case, non-UC transferable classes may be counted as well.

But as I said, he is an LS major so all of this is irrelevant.

where does it say he’s applying for genetics?

So what if on our transcript we have more As in non-transferrable courses than transferrable ones? For example, I got an A in a theology course but a B in Chemistry.

Both courses have nothing to do with my major. BUT I was hoping the A would help my chances?

if its non-transferable it wont help at all, unless ur applying to UCB (with exception of UCB’s college of L&S)

@CalBearGuy
I’ve seen his other thread on the chance me board.

@Supa_Ramba Thank you very much! However, I looked on the UC Berkeley website and Genetics is listed as a College of Natural Resources. Oddly enough, History is under College of Letters and Sciences, but not anything biology related.

Are you applying for the Genetics and Plant Biology (DPB) degree? That one is listed under the College of Natural Sciences.

Or are you applying for the Genetics major under Molecular and Cell Biology? That one is under L&S

I have taken a few classes that I’m not sure are transferable. In the course catalog it says:

“CSU;UC credit limitations”

I have taken a few classes that say that because they were pre-reqs in order for me to take higher up classes. I took Intro Physics, College Algebra, and Intro to Bio and all of them said that. Does this mean that none of those classes will count toward my GPA? I am a bio major

Little_Duck, credit limitations still count. A credit limitation usually implies something like- if you take Biology 1 and Biology 2 at most you get 4 credits (or something to that effect, if you take course X and course Y the most credit you will get is W or at most you will get credit for only course X or Y)
