Do UC's see which other UC schools you apply to?

So…if you apply to one UC, do other UC’s see where else in the UC system you are applying to and your major? Ex: if you apply for economics at UCD, can UCLA see that you applied to UCD for economics?

yes (10 chars)

So is it bad to apply for a bunch of different majors at different UC's? Like applying for electrical engineering at UCD, informatics at UCI, math/econ at UCLA, pharmacological chemistry at UCSD? There is no one major that I am extremely passionate about, but I am interested in all of those majors. What should I do? I heard that if I'm just interested in a major, I should go ahead and put it down instead of applying as undeclared.

Thanks for the help.

NO, NO, NO, they don't.

i'm confused now, which is it? (DRab and Chang, are you both sure that they don't see it/see it, (respectively)?

Well, in theory, it is possible...

But consider this: each of the UC's get the same personal statement from you, which should give them a general idea of what you want to do with your life. So, if I were you, I would pick majors that at least fall under one general umbrella (such as the different types of biological sciences, biotechnology/bioengineering/biomedical engineering, etc...). If you have a hard time narrowing down your choices, remember: there is always the alternate major that you choose.

P.S. Even if you pick your major, it isn't really carved in stone; you will probably be able to change it later on.

I've heard people who would know (for example, the head of Berkeley's admissions) that they do not. I have no reason to believe that they would know. However, I have every reason to think that they have a great idea about which other UCs you would get into and which you would not (if you applied to them), which they won't know.

thanks! :)
